New Doctor Who Audio Play to Be Released in August

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF BERNICE SUMMERFIELD VOLUME 3 to include a new audio play by Dr Una McCormack

Big Finish have plans to release an original radio play by Anglia Ruskin University writer Dr Una McCormack.

This August, Bernice Summerfield is back in the TARDIS, but not with the Doctor she was expecting! Prepare to enter the Unbound Universe…

Available to pre-order, Doctor Who – The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield: Volume 3: The Unbound Universe presents a whole new dimension for the multiverse’s greatest archaeologist Bernice Summerfield (Lisa Bowerman). After years of adventures solo and with the Seventh Doctor, the former companion finds herself recruited with a Doctor from a parallel Universe, played by national treasureDavid Warner (Time Bandits, Tron, Star Trek, Titanic).

David first appeared as his Doctor in two Doctor Who Unbound audio plays –Doctor Who: Sympathy for the Devil and Doctor Who: Masters of War – portraying an alternative version of the Time Lord’s Third incarnation. But this Doctor is one who is cautious to make sacrifices; a choice which had led his universe down a dark path.

Together with Benny, he’ll take on what remains of his world’s greatest threats, including the Kareem, the Blanks, the Sisters of Saint Beedlix – and the Master (Sam Kisgart), still surviving at the end of reality!

‘We were trying to work out where we could take Benny next,’ says producer James Goss, ‘and the idea just sort of happened. We immediately got very excited about it. David Warner is a legend, and his Doctor is the perfect foil to Lisa Bowerman. Whereas Benny is a famously gung-ho adventuress, he’s a cautious man with a twinkle in his eye. She falls into his universe and gives him a new lease of life.’

The remaining three episodes have been written by Guy Adams, Dr Una McCormack and Emma Reeves. Guest stars in the box-set include Rowena Cooper, Zeb Soanes, Tom Webster, Alex Jordan, Sophie Wu, Julie Graham, Kerry Gooderson, Deirdre Mullins, George Blagden, Richard Earl, Aaron Neil, Laura Doddington, Lizzie Hopley, Shvorne Marks and Gus Brown.
